Преднизолон является активной формой преднизона. Его эффекты в основном глюкокортикоидные.
Экскретируется в грудное молоко в незначительных количествах (Ryu 2018, Greenberger 1993, Ost 1985, Berlin 1979, Katz 1975, McKenzie 1975), и никаких проблем не было зарегистрировано у младенцев, находящихся на грудном вскармливании, чьи матери принимали его даже в течение длительного периода времени (Moretti 2003, Muñoz 2001, Nyberg 1998, Ito 1993), ни в дозах от 40 до 60 мг в день (Izumi 2014, Gan 2012, Westermann 2012).
