Это противомалярийное препарат с действиями, похожими на действия хлорохина. Он используется в качестве противовоспалительного и иммуномодулирующего агента при лечении и профилактике малярии, в лечении системной и дискоидной волчанки, ревматоидного артрита, порфирии, саркоидоз и различных нарушений кожи. Он также используется в профилактике венозной тромбоэмболии.
Он выводится в грудном молоке в клинически незначительном количестве, которое намного ниже, чем в дозе, используемой у младенцев (Peng 2019, Liu 2016, Cissoko 2010, Costedoat 2002, Ostensen 1985, Nation 1984).
